I loved taking this class with Dr. Bosch Santana. I hadn't read a ton of African literature before, and it was a great introduction. It was online and half live/half asynchronous. We met once a week for discussion of the texts and she uploaded short lectures for us to watch on our own time. Each week was centered around a different theme. Most of the texts were provided, and the ones that weren't were reasonably priced. We were required to complete weekly discussion posts (~250-500 words) in response to prompts she gave us in the lectures, we had one midterm paper and one final paper/project. Since it's a pretty small class, participation is a significant part of your grade. She was very understanding of our circumstances and ready to help during office hours/after class. She responded personally to all of our discussion posts and mainly looked for effort and thoughtfulness.
