This is a horrible class. DO NOT TAKE IT.
The most confusing, least accommodating professor I've had at UCLA. She thinks it's punk to make the least understandable/accessible video lectures I've ever seen. While getting a good grade is easy, you'll hate the process. Take a different GE.
Also, I'm not sure why her other reviews for this class are listed under MSC HST 13 instead. Read those for more detailed information on the class structure.
weird format online, and everything is due at like 12 pm, in the middle of the day. felt a lot of the assignments were unnecessary and many of her prerecorded lectures had 0 sound in them. this course could really be 5 weeks but somehow it extends into 10. the midterm requires you to write a song and write a paper about it, oh and perform it. final is a video, a book, a paper, and a presentation. be warned. it lowkey is a lot
This class was all over the place. Probably the worst managed class I have ever taken at UCLA. The professor is sweet but a bit disorganized and laggy with posting assignments and readings. It is an easy A but, if you find it hard to sit through a boring lecture don't take this class.
Took this class as a GE and the prof was nice enough to give me a PTE after it was full. Though I have no background in punk, I enjoyed the class and it gave me insight into punk music and its social views. The class was online, which was great, and allowed me to do the work whenever I wanted throughout the week (new work was usually released on monday mornings). I would def recommend this class for fun or as a GE! Final project was making your own punk book, of which I did with another student online, and I just hand drew the book and come up with the words while my classmate made the video for it, so def not hard and very manageable!
