OMIGOSH. how does he even remember all those lectures?!?!?! he is sooooo extremely organized and a great lecturer. plus, he writes BIG so everyone sees it. i don't think he cares much about the students though. either u want to learn, or u don't. DON'T READ THE BOOK. in fact, DON'T BUY THE BOOK. of all the econ books i've bought, McDevitt's LECTURE NOTES are the best! if u have his notes, why bother w/ the useless book? he's a very fair grader... midterms and final is a bit hard... u really need to know ur stuff. if u're looking for an easy class, don't take him. but if i were u, i would take him even if the lectures were at 8 o'clock every morning rather than some other professor...

McDevitt was a better professor than Bresnock (maybe because econ 2 was easier for me to understand than econ 1). My only advice is to study the study guides THOROUGHLY.

Another advice? Take Alejandro Jara or Alejandro Simone. Both are helluva great. Jara is very nice and ask him questions. Simone seems to be a bit hard on grading (based on my exams) but he's an excellent vocal lecturer and very vivacious on the blackboard. Simone also has good problems posted on the web. Both of these TA's know their audience and are aware of the classroom (well econ is dry and tedious sometimes). Recomiendo que les tome si quiera recibir las letras excelentes!

I may not have gotten a good grade in his class, but I know a good professor when I see one. He teaches. He doesn't put on a performance, or adorn his teaching with bells and whistles. He is obviously such a honed Econ 2 lecturer that he know the issues that trip his students up and teach accordingly. In any other circumstances this might sound like this guy induces insomnia, yet, his was the only class that I make an honest-to-God effort to attend. Once I'm seated and once he writes on the board, I'm hooked knowing that he will teach something important and relevant.

mcdevitt's lectures are straight forward yet impersonal. it feels like watching a video of a boring econ teacher excpt there is no rewind button-difficult to follow. he assumes you have a strong econ background when he speaks. the tests are too short; if you miss two questions you have a "d." do not recomend if you have a choice.

McDevitt indeed is a great professor. However, there is so much competition in the class that it can become frustrating at times.
