Introduction to Research Design

Description: Seminar, three hours. Required in first or second year of PhD program. Identification of planning problems, formulation of research questions, review of literature and identification of gaps, development of researchable hypotheses, understanding of strengths and weaknesses of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, understanding of threats to validity, review of critiques of traditional methods and of alternative approaches to scholarship. Letter grading.
