I like the way he lectures although he does mumble alot . I studied really hard for his test because I heard how he is nit picky. He asks some really vague questions which could have been answered multiple ways but just try to write everything you know. And some that focused on info we barely went over in class, but its a physci class sooo its gonna be hard

This man is the cruelest, worst professor at UCLA. Not only is he a horrible professor that cannot teach, he teaches the hardest part of this class. My review of him for teacher evals for the PhySci department follows: "Dr. Simmons is quite possibly the single worst professor I've had while at UCLA. Let me correct that, the single worst teacher I have ever had, period. Not only is the man completely unorganized, he is clueless to the commonplace feelings of scorn and disdain that all of his students have for him. He routinely contradicts himself and laughs it off, as if it is nothing, while we as his students remain lost. His notes make no sense, leaving us at the mercy of a textbook that is difficult to understand and remain engaged. Please, for the sake of the reputation of the physiological science major, do not allow this man to continue teaching as a part of this teaching team. Narrins and Tidball were amazing, making it even more sad that this great class is being closed by such a horrible teacher."

Winter 2024 - Tidball was so clear and an amazing professor. He's so charismatic and explains everything without any fluff. Only PHYSCI class (His module only) that I didn't need to study for at all and aced the midterm. I think the discussions also really help to clarify anything, so definitely participate in those. Spring 2025 - I wanted to like this module but I was quite disappointed by Prof. Villanueva's teaching style. First off, his slides are terribly unorganized with either no text or a mountain of text with no way to know what was important. Continuing this, for an unknown reason he would post two different versions of the slides and sometimes the slides in lecture would be just one or a mix of both decks. He spoke... so... slowly and asked so many questions to the audience with 30 seconds of silence that it was extremely disengaging. I gave up attending lecture when it became clear that I could never remain focused or understand in class. And it wasn't just me. By the end of the module, maybe 1/4 of the class was showing up and even looking around I would see people falling asleep. My method of survival relied on watching the lectures at 2x speed and going to discussion since the TAs were actually able to properly organize the material with what we needed to know. His test was easy enough though, just memorize and regurgitate like the rest of Phy Sci. If you've made it this far, you'll need to take this professor and this module anyway, just don't have high hopes for his teaching style and save your time by not going to lecture.
