3 essays very easy class.. TAKE LISLE !! she reads your essays...( Mostly checks grammer in my opinion- she focused more on what you did right and not what you did wrong... so i found her corrections useless) make significant corrections on your essays after she reads them....she wants change not just the grammer corrections she made received an A :)

Fall 2021 - Honestly, you can't ask more from Professor/Lecturer Lisovsky. Your final grade is based on 4 projects (3 essays, 1 video or 4 essays) and they aren't graded harshly at all + some hw on readings (1hr each). Even if you aren't happy with your grade, he gives you chances to REVISE/REDO essays and that will bump the grade up by 5-10% easily. PS: You can literally be 15 minutes late to his class and he will still welcome you to the class, no questions asked. ONE WORD: CHILL. TAKE HIS CLASS!

Fall 2018 - Professor Maasik is just great! She helps engage the class in a polite, yet fun way and offers some activities to sharpen our writing skills. Getting an A is not easy, though, but going to office hours and asking the professor for advice really helps, especially if you want your writing to be clear to the reader (which is the professor herself). One thing I would like to say about this class: watch out for the first essay, as the average grade for that is very low. I tried my hardest on that essay and only earned a B. The other two essays are more flexible as long as your paper makes actual sense. If you decide to take this otherwise enjoyable class, I suggest spending around 5-10 minutes researching about the paramedic method (a skill that the professor will show after the first essay). It really helps.

Spring 2022 - By far, one of the best professors at UCLA! Writing is not my strongest suit but I'm glad to have taken this class with Professor Martinez. His live and welcoming energy made 8 am classes very much bearable! You'll feel your writing improve as the quarter goes on. The only homework assigned is usually short readings (provides PDFs so you do not have to buy them) that are briefly reviewed at the start of class. We had 3 different essays throughout the quarter, and each time we'd do peer reviews which made it very helpful to see what could be improved on before our final submission. His grading was fair and feedback was helpful. I felt he was always prepared for class with slides/handouts. We had to keep a notebook (physical or digital) with our notes, readings/annotations, essays, etc. in which he would do notebook checks here and there just to make sure we were keeping up with the class. If you have the opportunity to take this class with Professor Martinez, PLEASE DO! Highly recommend it.
