Like the previous review, I find her to be the 2nd worse prof I have had at UCLA. This class is billed as a lecture, however, she calls it a discussion class. There was absolutely no meaningful discussion whatsoever the whole quarter. We had an 800 page reader with reading assignments for each class. The readings were very interesting, however, they were very redundant. The whole quarter consisted of reading for the day and then coming into class and reiterating what we read. When a student would question the readings she would basically ignore it. When she chimed in with her views she was very dry, boring, and monotone. Stay away from any class she teaches.

He was an awesome professor. It was a small class so he knew everyone pretty well. He is extremely approachable. The reading were dense, and he knew this, but he did his best in leading the discussions in the class as smoothly as possible. He likes when you participate and give your opinion, in no way does he make you feel bad for stating something that is irrelevant. He encourages student participation as much as possible. Pop-quizes throughout course, but definitely not difficult. One research paper that he allows you to choose your own topic, not difficult at all. Got an A in the class. I recommend taking him!

Spring 2025 - taking this w/ rashidi was goated. she was experimenting about the format of this class with our group, so even though things felt a bit disorganized, it all worked out in the end. i liked the content a lot, but that's probably cause i enjoy bio anthro a lot. if you don't like bio, or anthro, or reading niche things about bio anthro, don't take this lol. there were weekly articles (some were quite long and tedious) that you had to read and complete a reading form about. we each had to guide a discussion about one of the articles once in the quarter. but other than those assignments, the final was a quick in-person essay about basically anything you found interesting about the class and then a more comprehensive research essay was due later during finals week. very manageable. to put it into perspective, i was able to complete all 8 required reading forms and the final essays within 24 hours.
