I took HC 35 with Newman and all in all, I liked him a lot. I am not a science major, therefore I wasn't too fond of the course overall. I honestly took it because it fit my schedule and for no other reason. I liked him and I liked some of the topics he covered. I think he's funny and sure, his jokes are corny, but they're funny because he finds them so funny. I think it's funnier when we totally miss the punchline.

I feel lucky to have had a class with him. His office hours are a little frustrating as getting a straight answer out of him seems to be near impossible. However, he does make time for you and he is very respectful of his students. Just, please, for all of us, don't argue with him about some point that he most likely knows much better than you do.

I would take him, just prepare for some boring lectures. You learn a lot and the videos aren't bad. He fell asleep in one video, but again, so did I so I don't really blame him.
