This class was amazing! Dr. Edu is a great professor and always has engaging lectures. The topic was intense, but it was taught amazingly. Loved the field trip to the Black Birthing Center - it really changed my perspective on childbirth as a woman of color.
This class kind of sucks but it's so easy and the material was interesting. The workload was very manageable and the lectures were engaging, but they were primarily done by Jemima Pierre with a few from other AfAmer profs at UCLA. Basically nothing from Edu. Also, it is a week after the quarter ended and I still don't have a midterm grade. Students in all sections experienced this, and when we reached out to the professor, we never got a response. I personally emailed her several times and never received any correspondence back. My TA never introduced himself to the students (the class was fully async but one of the other TAs -- Nila Seelan was VERY on top of everything). The material was fascinating and I truly enjoyed completing assignments, but the professor was not good. I think it was worth taking purely due to the knowledge that I got from it, but none of that knowledge really came from the professor who was teaching it.
