Psych127B Although Prof. Cannon is a nice guy and responded quickly to my emails, I feel that he is not engaged in teaching. His classes were all read from the slides, he seems to be very interested in research and not as much at actually helping his students understand what's going on in class. His tests were difficult, but he did grade with a curve. I liked that he was organized but there was simply way too much info to memorize. Wish he loved teaching as much as he loved his other jobs..class might have been more interesting and I may have even came out of it remembering something.

If you are an insomniac, take this prof and your problems will be solved, guaranteed! As others have noted, he is a boring, monotone lecturer, and added an exam after the quarter had begun. He was not very sympathetic to students who had difficulty in his class, though the exams were difficult. He is characteristic of most male psych profs that I have had here: so wrapped up in research that his connections to other humans become tenuous, and totally lacking warmth. Considering that there are other great profs for this class (Eldridge), it's best to wait.

He is not only boring, he also doesn't care about his students. I got a 60% on the first midterm, so I studied hard for the second and I got a 60% again. I only learned later that I was well above the class average. When I talked to him about my grade in the class, he told me I was "arrogant and maladaptive" for even bringing up the subject. I wanted to be a psychology major, but taking Cannon changed my mind.

He is by far the worst professor I've every had in my entire life. First off, he was extremely boring especially because he spoke in monotone. His exams are hard as heck!!! He suddenly threw in an extra exam, but the plus side to that was he would only keep the two highest of the three exams. However, that did not really make a difference since they were so difficult that my grade between the exams didn't change much. I've never done so poorly on tests in my entire life! The only good thing is that he puts the lecture outlines on the web before class. I was told by tons of people how interesting and fun abnormal psych is and I totally regret taking it with Cannon--he turned my highly anticipated experience into a nightmare.
