Literally the sweetest professor. He is always happy and you can tell he loves his job. This class is so reasonable and the workload is not bad at all. Most things are graded based on completion. He really wants his students to learn and is always there for help. If you need a psych lab for your major TAKE HIM!! I would love to do more research with him and our awesome TA.

I have nothing but great things to say about Professor Williamson! These other reviews are very accurate.

Even though this class was 2 hours, I almost never found myself looking at the clock! Professor Williamson is kind, understanding, extremely knowledgable, funny, and I felt that I learned a lot from his class without the pressure of grades!

His lectures are engaging and interesting. Even though the class is research methods (which can seem kind of tedious) he is super excited about subjects which REALLY helps with engagement. You can really tell that he’s passionate about research and teaching and it’s great to be a student in his class.

A lot of his work is based on completion which I felt really allows you to engage with the topic. I could go on about this wonderful professor and TA. Probably the best professor I’ve taken at UCLA and I’m a senior!

I couldn’t recommend him enough! I will be looking to take other classes with him in the future.

If you are looking for an easy psych lab, definitely take this class. Dr. Williamson is THE BEST. He is the one of the best professors I ever had at UCLA. He is super helpful, sweet, organized and understanding. He is also very flexible and most of his assignments are graded upon completion. He has a textbook which is the same as the 100b textbook. The class has weekly inquisitives, course journals, and in class activities. But you only need to do 5/8 inquisitives, 8/10 course journals and 12/16 class activities. Also, he offers a 24 hour extension on the assignment of your choice. The class has a lot of group work and most of the class is spent doing stuff with your group. There is a final research paper which is based on a research project that you will conduct with your group. He is super nice and will clearly explain the directions. There are no exams, just the final paper. I would highly recommend this teacher and this class and would definitely retake him.

As someone who enjoyed 100B and did not find it too difficult, this class is pretty easy. That being said, it is definitely easier than 100B, so no worries if you found that class hard. There are no exams. There is weekly homework and a group project at the end similar to 100B where you design and conduct a study and write a paper about it.

Dr. Williamson is a joy. He's enthusiastic, friendly, and approachable. You can tell he really enjoys teaching and research. He is very on top of his stuff and his class as a result is very structured, which can honestly make it seems like high school sometimes, but it's just because he cares and wants us to learn. He isn't out to get us- he is very understanding. The syllabus allows for you to miss a good amount of assignments without penalty, and he provides a "late pass" so you can get a 24hr extension on an assignment, no questions asked. "Class activities", one type of assignment, are all due at the end of the quarter, so you can make them up later if you miss any.

I'm not sure if he'll be doing this in the future, but this quarter he provided asynchronous options for every class period!!! Meaning he recorded separate lectures for every single live lecture. He's also patient with us and is always just super nice. There would be times where people ask a question he already answered, or he tells us to work in groups but no one ends up talking to each other (lol), but he's never once shown any signs of annoyance. He simply answers the question or reminds us that we're supposed to be working in groups.

He also takes feedback very seriously. He gave us time in class to fill out a feedback survey, and 2 classes later he went over our feedback and told us what changes he was going to make to the course as a result. Some changes were even implemented this quarter.

Of course I can't compare this class to the other psych lab requirements, but I can say you won't be disappointed if you take this class with him.
