I took her class thinking that I might enjoy sociology but... okay to the point, she is a decent professor. I don't think she is good but she is not bad either. One thing I don't really like is the hard grade cutoff that she uses when calculating your grade. Don't take her class, thinking that it will be a easy GE class because, really it is NOT

I really enjoyed Soc 1 with Prof. Black. Her lectures largely follow the textbook and she posts all the slides online which is really great. She tries to involve the class whenever possible. Her midterm and final are multiple choice and short answer but she gives you the short answer ahead of time. There was also a Literature Review assignment which kinda sucked, but it wasn't too hard. I'd recommend taking Sociology with her.

Black wasn't particularly a great professor, but she wasn't necessarily horrible either. Her lectures are well-structured and you can tell she really wants her students to do well. The way the course is taught was not for me though. I was extremely interested in the course subject when I stepped into class week 1, and I left week 10 absolutely unenthusiastic about the subject. The class gets dull and repetitive and it's just not fun anymore after the first few meetings. You must attend, however, since she surprises the class with group activities that count for a chunk of your grade.
She's also a big fan of in-class MC/essay exams which I don't really mind, but I didn't feel that this particular subject should have been geared toward that direction. It would have been a lot more interesting if we focused more on how notions of gender and body impacted society (hence sociology!) rather than focusing on the history of gender, sexuality, and the body, different methods researchers used, and general facts. I'm not saying history, research methodology and facts aren't important, but that seemed what was most important for this class. It seemed more like a history or anthropology class than it did sociology.

Took Soc 1 with Professor Black. She is a decent lecturer and always uses film clips and youtube videos to engage her students and to help them apply new concepts. I thought this class was beyond easy, even for a North campus class... Yes, you do have to do the readings for discussion but they're important for the tests. The multiple choice part of the midterm was really easy. Overall she's decent and seems pretty friendly.
