Loved the subject matter in the class, but the professor could have been better. Toohey's a really nice guy, a gentle older gentleman who cares about the students and is available quite a bit. His humor is dry and sarcastic, but gentle and nonoffensive, unlike many of his peers in the history department. The way he lectured was really boring and distracting though. He just sat there, stared straight forward, and droned on in monotone. I want him around when I'm having insomnia, but not when trying to learn about constituional history. Other than that his class was structured very fair, and he's very flexible and as mentioned earlier , nice guy. If you can get past the incredible monotone (maybe the worst I've seen @ ucla), he's a great professor.
