Great class. Professor is very organized. I ended up using the lecture notes instead of my own notes by the end of the class. The class is heavy on Matlab. There were 3 homeworks worth 40%, a Final Project worth 20% and Final Exam worth 40%. The homeworks and final project were difficult in my opinion and time consuming. But the final project was graded very leniently. The final exam was a take home exam and very difficult and long. Overall great class, I came out with a much better understanding of digital filters and signal processing in general.

The class was pretty interesting and Prof. Pamarti is a good lecturer/explainer. He is also very nice and open to answering questions in office hours. First week is a review of 113. There were 3 homework assignments, the first one was by far the longest and hardest, with the other two being very manageable. Each homework has a bit of matlab. There is only a final, which mainly hit topics covered in homework, but harder. The project was individual (though he did mention that he normally does group projects, but the class was too big this time). It consisted of a substantial amount of matlab.

Overall, I would take this class with them again.

Pamarti is a great professor who is really passionate about what he does. In my opinion, he is one of the best lecturers that I have had thus far at UCLA. Lectures are well-paced, clear, written in real-time on a notepad so we can keep up. The class consisted of 3 homework assignments, a project, and a final. The homeworks were challenging, but not impossible. If you had any trouble, his office hour sessions would be quite helpful. All lectures and office hours were recorded and posted on CCLE, which was also very nice. I thought the curve was quite generous, as I scored average to above average on most assignments. However, this is a graduate class, so he might have a different grading rubric for undergraduate classes. Overall, I highly recommend you take Pamarti if given the chance.
