Summer 2022 - I took this during A sesh in person, and it was such an amazing class. Professor Peterson is very engaging and loves to have students participate, and he is very knowledgeable about celebrity as a whole. There were two research papers that we had to do as well as a final. The papers could be on anything we wanted as long as it was related to either celebrity or social media, which made doing the papers a lot more enjoyable. He's not an intense grader and provides valuable feedback. He also provides us with many opportunities to learn more out in the real world by telling us when movie premieres are happening and inviting guest speakers (he had Lisa Rinna from the Real Housewives come in and speak to us!!). Overall, a great class that I definitely recommend.

Summer 2025 - This is by far one of my favorite classes I have taken at UCLA. If you're a Comm major interested in the entertainment side or someone interested in entertainment in general, I highly recommend it. It's only offered during the summer (6 weeks)and is in-person, but if you are able to attend it's definitely worth it. Wish more people knew about it. Class was very small this quarter so Professor Peterson adapted it to a seminar style and really took the time to engage with each student and adapt around our needs/interests. You can tell he really enjoys teaching this class and is knowledgeable about the field of entertainment. Class was a mixture of weekly readings, a research paper, final pitch project, discussions, and several guest speakers with invaluable insights. You'll basically get a crash course in the stages of producing film and tv, relations between industry players, and some of the psychology behind different types of content. What's great about this class is you can really tailor it to your interests with the independent research project/pitch and keeping up with entertainment-related events, which we were invited to discuss in class. If you are an active participant and put effort into the projects throughout the quarter, you will do great and hopefully have more than a few takeaways from this class!

Fall 2021 - This class is so so so so so important - I think every Junior/Senior needs to take this class at least once. The class is very easy. It's listed as a 3 hour class but Peterson would usually end class after an hour. You can choose your assignments based on a list of topics he gives, and some of the topics give you the chance to reflect on your internship. There's a 5-8 page paper at the end of the quarter, but all you really need to do is reflect on your internship & what you've learned. This class is meant to HELP you! Most classes brought in guest lectures from industries like entertainment, government, marketing, and more! I am still in contact with one of the guest lecturers, and she's been so helpful! So, this class is a GREAT way to network! Peterson is awesome. He would share interesting stories during class, and he would give us AMAZING advice on careers, internships, networking, interviews, resumes, etc. All of the topics he goes over are crucial for every student to know before graduating. He's also very helpful outside of class too, just send him an email or ask to set up a meeting. He responds to emails in a timely manner! He will even look at your resume and offer feedback - just ask! This class prepares you for the real world. Not many other classes do that. Make good use out of your time at UCLA and take this class - you need it and you will be happy you took it. Don't think twice just enroll! Trust me!
