ECON 130 PUBLIC ECON

His last name should be changed to KRAP.

His exams are structured ridiculously. Multiple choice questions are worth 5 points each.
(50 points out of 100)
and free response questions make up the other 50 points.

The multiple choice questions come from the readings rather than the lectures.

He was for sure one of the worst professors I've had in the econ department so far. He is extremely stuck up, arrogant and intimidates his students. He'll make you feel like you're wasting his time if you ask him a question!

I don't think the material is that hard and I put every effort also. However, the weird thing is that I just screwed up the midterm.

I got either A or A+ in all my previous econ classes and this was supposed to be my last econ course.
Now I have to change it into p/np and choose another course instead.

Well,a bad ending,isn't it?

NOT that easy, so dont make that false assumption as i did. you really have to read every page in the textbook to guarantee that you'll get the MC Q's right on the exams because he sometimes asked the most insignificant things. every MC you get wrong = 5% of the exam. your score comes down real fast just cuz of that so dont slack off thinking its super easy. read every page assigned! i didnt and i went on to regret it. furthermore, Krop was not very accessible, helpful, or responsive. i emailed him twice to set up an appt so i could review my exam and i never heard back. i tried going to OH to get help but he spent a lot of time going off on tangents talking about himself instead of helping me on the probs/Q's.

he is a strong lecturer. the textbook is well written. but in terms of exams/grading not the best. first of all, his T or F questions are ambiguous. i was usually unsure what he was asking. he doesnt return the midterms until like the 9th week. he wont even post an answer key. a bit paranoid about his grading. not willing to discuss/accept different interpretations of his exam questions. the free response part of the midterm and the final werent hard at all.

Krop is by far, hands down the worst teacher I've ever had in my academic career and I'll tell you exactly why?

1) He's extremely boring. Don't even go to class cuz it ain't gonna help a bit.

2) He's probably the most stuck-up teacher and thinks he's always right- even if you go to his office hours, he won't tolerate any subject of opinion and will tell you that only what he says is RIGHT!!!! IDIOT.

3) The worst thing when I was taking his class was, the fact that he took points off my midterm because I didn't right a simple formula in generic form. That really pissed me off cuz he wouldn't have me explain my reason for thinking he was marking off points for no reason.
Eventually, I yelled at him- he's definitely the cheapest IDIOT out there, cheap as hell to the point he won't even give you 2 points.

He Sucks, Don't ever attempt or even think about taking his stupid class. However, the subject, in my opinion was interesting.

I stopped going to lecture after the midterm; I don't even know what I got on the midterm, I never picked it up. He tested heavily from the lecture notes he provided- there may have been some problems from the text, but few enough that you'd be fine not knowing. My approach to the class earned me a B; with a little more effort, I'm sure an A would be totally within reach. Ask me what I learned, though, I wouldn't be able to say much. This is something i've gotten used to with our school's econ dept; nothing new here.

the structure of this class is pretty straightforward. I did very well on the midterm and final....ONLY study his lecture notes and all of his previous exams which are made available on the class website. DO NOT even bother with the book..it's easy to read but nothing from there is on the exams. The format of his tests are the same every quarter. Krop's a nice dude, but apparently doesn't believe in or bother with answering emails..or even posting messages on the web site. don't even bother going to class, it really is a waste of time. The average score of our midterm was an 85 out of a 100...yep, it was ridiculously high. have fun

Krop is a decent lecturer and tries to make the subject matter interesting. You can tell he cares about the subject himself. His tests are not too difficult but there is no curve so it's not easy but it's not hard. He tests on his lecture notes which are concise and clear, they also follow the text book pretty closely. The only gripe I had with him was that he never answered any emails I sent him which gave me the impression he just didn't care but that doesn't say much so overall I would recommend taking his class. Read his lecture notes and take his practice tests and you will do fine.

Prof. Krop is a very nice guy. This class has only two exams, a midterm and final. No need to attend lecture because all he does is read off his notes, which you can print from the class website. you don't need the book either because again, all the material that he tests on comes straight from the notes. other than that, this is a pretty informative class thats worth taking. good luck
