This class is so helpful if you are starting to look into your career after UCLA. Professor Andalon goes through everything in detail you need to prepare and anything you could possibly face. I reworked my entire resume and was successful in getting a much-needed internship. I also looked into alternate career paths too, which will be helpful. Great class with material you can definitely use.
Super doable light class, plus it can be pretty useful. Final is basically just compiling all the assignments you did earlier in the quarter and submitting it as a portfolio. Sample resumes, cover letters, interview thank you notes, etc and some reflections. Overall would recommend!
Professor Andalon is one of the best professors I've had at UCLA! This class was my first upper division elective in the department and I enjoyed learning from Professor Andalon so much that I took another class of his in spring. This class consisted of a course exam on Bruin Learn, a brief paper about a career your interested in, and a group project. I found all of the work incredibly manageable, especially during one of my busier quarters at UCLA. All of the deadlines were communicated well in advance and my stress level from this class was very low, especially because my group members for the project were incredibly helpful. Getting an A is incredibly doable if you meet all the deadlines on time and demonstrate some effort. Overall, I can't recommend this class enough for people looking to knock off some upper division credits in an interesting and engaging class!
Amazing professor who cares so deeply about his students. I would take any class with him. 10/10 would recommend.
This class was incredibly interesting and manageable for people that are looking for upper division electives. The class consisted of a course exam administered via BruinLearn and a group project on a topic of your choice. Students were able to pick their own group members and some of the groups were over ten students. I found the test to be very fair while working in a strong group for the project made it very straightforward. There are also extra credit opportunities available later in the quarter. Professor Andalon was always very communicative about class expectations and there is a reason that his classes are so popular! I definitely recommend this class if you're looking for an interesting analysis of immigration and a very attainable A.
