i liked this class, and Prof. Ong. he made the lectures interesting and was very excited about what he was teaching, very conserned with student learning. i'm not a science person at all, but i found this class very fascinating, and i got the highest grade in a science class since freshman year of high school. i recommend this class as a GE, and prof. ong

This Teacher is Great! He posts all his notes online, the test are taken from the home work. He will answer an questions you have, not to mention all you have to do is read the text and you'll be garenteed an A, the curve is made in YOUR favor. Couldnt recomend a better teacher, and a better GE to take. By far the nicest guy, and the subject matter isnt hard to understand at all.

This was an extremely easy class... I almost never went to lectures but when I did, Professor Ong was always very animated and lively. He made everything really clear. There are two multiple choice midterms and a final. If you study the night before, you should do fine. I would recommend this class to anyone.

I have no idea what the other people who posted on ong are talking about. Maybe he was bad a couple of years ago, but I think Ong's great!!!!He's organized, intelligent, and answers all of your questions effectively. A previous post someone said was that his substitutes were better than he was. NO WAY. Ong is a GREAT lecturer. He was only gone twice, but both times I just thought "oh man i hope ong covers this again when he comes back." I'd highly reccomend him. The readings go quickly and the lecture is only 1 hr 15 min and he never goes overtime. The class is graded 35% for combined two midterms, 35% final, 20% labs, and 10% hw, which is great if you don't like classes that only make your grade based on a midterm and final. It's a great way to cover a physical science with a lab GE. The labs were way easy and most of us got out of there after an hour or an hour and a half. I now love astronomy and it was has been favorite class by far this quarter. He's an incredibly fair grader. His exams aren't that tough--honestly, I'm not that great of a student and I'm especially NOT a science person and I ended up getting As on all the exams. Take this class!!!

Professor Ong is a great guy. He makes things simple to understand and is always willing to answer questions. He keeps the class interesting and even when boring stuff comes up, like math, he manages to keep you engaged. I wish he taught more GE classes.

This boring class has completely drained me of any interest I had in this subject. The readings are tedious, the lectures are extremely basic, which means they fail at explaining the material in the book. Extremely boring. My most hated class this quarter. For a GE, it's not worth it, take anything else.

one of the worst professors i've ever had...he simply spits out facts and information without offering any valid explanations or understanding. do not take him for astro 3; we had substitute profs a few times, and they were sooooooo much more effective than ong. he seems like a really nice guy, but don't fall for it! when it comes to exams and grading, he's a hard-ass.

Do NOT take Ong for astro 3. He made the class extremely difficult. I took it because it was supposed to be an easy class and I was interested in the subject but he ruined it. I hate astronomy after taking the class and he was not a good prof. He also had a lot of trouble working the equipment he used. Also, he had a discussion board and told us to post question, but he would never answer them. If you want an easy, interesting prof, DO NOT take him. The class was a waste of time.
