Quarter: Winter 2019
Grade: A

Hands down the best lower division film class I ever had at UCLA, great lectures and entertaining style of teaching! My TA Erika was also very friendly to talk to and communicate with. She did an excellent job of explaining technical information about screenwriting in her discussions and gave excellent guidance on storytelling and bringing out my creativity. Overall, a highly recommended class for those preparing to minor in Film Studies!

Honored to be one of Professor Nagy's students!

If you can endure a class that is autobiographical, and all about Phyllis Nagy and her loves and hates and experiences and prejudices, then I guess this would work for you. Very opinionated, with an inflated ego, considering her own meager work. Nagy has favorites and those to whom she gives side eye or rolling eyes. Regularly non-PC in her judgments. It's her way or the highway, and some of her devotions ("American Honey"? for God's sake) will leave you rolling your own eyes.
