Professor Cowe is a nice person and is extremely knowledgeable of Armenian History. I would have to say that this class is a "watered down" literature class. You do have to purchase the textbook/course book since you will be reading and analyzing Armenian dramas. He is excellent in connecting the dramas to historical contexts, which help you better understand the material. Make sure you actually read the material/annotate since the exams are based on the works. The midterm/final are essays. The prompts are very clear so make sure you follow directions and hit EVERY point that is being asked. They are take home but don't let your guard down, he gives you numerous options to chose from in the essay prompts, however, they will be difficult and time consuming if you didn't keep up with the readings.
His lectures are relevant to the material and make sure you do the reading prior to class since it's all discussion based. I would recommend him to anyone that is interested in drama, Armenian culture, and even feminism (quite a bit of the female characters in works defy the toxic male "machismo" trait.
Lastly, do not bullsh** your essays...he is sharp and will give you the grade your work deserves.
