This class has the reputation of being the easiest class in UCLA and I'm 99% sure that's true.
The readings are very easy and completely optional, the lectures are pretty entertaining but you can skip all of them without missing much, and the tests are extremely easy. There were two midterms, a final, and a small writing assignment.
Both midterms are 20 questions multiple choice about the readings, and the final is 30 questions multiple choice.
Easiest class ever, and the professor is so clearly interested in the topic it's pretty cute.

Easy GE, interesting texts. Some of the texts and movies were long, but they were interesting so it wasn't too bad. Show up to class! He randomly called on people for participation and asked questions about the readings. If your name gets called and you aren't there, you will get a zero in participation (worth 10%). I'm not sure how strict he actually was about this because my name never got called, but it seems like that could really screw you over. This class is pretty easy as long as you at least skim through the readings and review for the tests. Professor Wen is a great and funny professor. I felt bad for him because he had a lot of passion for Scand Lit and the class didn't always share the same enthusiasm.

This class is known as the easiest GE, on campus, because it is. The class itself is boring and so are the lectures. There are a decent number of readings so there is some work. Professor Wen is a really nice guy and will accommodate any problems you have. There are two midterm, 20 multiple questions each. The midterms are surface level questions about the texts, so it takes less than 10 minutes, but there are a lot of texts so a lot to ask from. Great guy.

Great professor, has a real passion for what he teaches and genuinely cares about his students. Very kind and easy to approach. Class is very light and the exams are extremely straightforward, just put a little bit of effort into studying and you'll ace them. Overall, it's everything everyone says it is: interesting, very easy and a great class to take. Would recommend to anyone in a heartbeat!!

Professor Wen is great at making Scandinavian Literature interesting. As a student who has a hard time paying attention in non-major courses, I found it really easy to engage in his lectures. It also doesn't hurt that the readings he chooses are by far the most interesting pieces I've read for my GEs.

This is the easiest GE you could ever ask for. The most work you'll ever have to do is an essay (10%) due week 2, but you can get out of it if you're lucky by volunteering for the mock trial. There's no need to actually do the full readings; you can get by if you just read summaries of the books and stories on the syllabus. There is a participation grade (10%) where he calls on a few people at random (he has a prepared list of names) to answer usually easy/bs-able questions related to the readings/lecture, but very few people even get called on and if you aren't, you still get the full 10%. There's two midterms (40% each) that were 20 multiple choice and easy as hell, though you should make sure you read the summaries or else there might be one or two questions that you might have to guess on.

All in all, easy A in a GE, next to no workload after week 2,.

Prof. Wen is really engaging and charismatic, though the majority of students take this class to boost their GPA. His two tests that make up 80% of the grade were multiple choice and took me less than fifteen minutes each.

He does require you to buy about $90 worth of textbooks. I would highly recommend using Scribd, which is an online library service. If you do the free month trial, you can print a couple of the books as pdfs off their site and then unsubscribe. I got Naive Super and The Dwarf that way.

Pretty easy GE class, it's an athlete class. No discussion, only midterm and final.

Readings are so important!! It's so hard to bullshit the paper on midterm/final if you haven't read before section. He references a lot of the readings during lecture and it gets kind of confusing if you haven't at least skimmed his passages. Midterm and final is decent, as long as you've read and gone to section you'll do fine.

Material is not hard, mostly a memorization based class.

Class was an easy A as long as you did the reading. Patrick Wen is a really cool professor, and he is very clear on the material you need to know for the essays/tests.
