This class was fantastic and even helped me decide on my Major. Professor Williams is an amazing lecturer and is accommodating by providing PowerPoint prior to his lectures for those who would like to get a head start on some of the material that would be covered in the lecture that day. In his lectures, the Big Idea Questions are highlighted in blue font and all of the key terms to know for the quarter were in red font. This made it extremely easy to study for midterms and finals which were both multiple-choice. On top of this, professor Williams is especially interested during his lectures because he uses his own data collected in the field and by running model algorithms. These figures scattered throughout the lecture provided an immense amount of detail and insight into what we were covering that day in the lecture and added to my overall enjoyment of the class. Outside of class, professor Williams is helpful and was happy to answer many of the questions that I had about the course. If you have the opportunity to take this class with professor Williams JUST DO IT.
This was one of the few courses at UCLA that I actually found really interesting and impactful. I am not a geography major, but this class fit my schedule well and I had previously taken GEOG 1 as well so I decided to take it.
Professor Williams is super kind, engaging, and knows so much about the stuff he’s teaching, which it makes it really enjoyable to take this class. There are definitely some more difficult concepts in this class, but the professor explains them really well and helps everyone understand (again I am not a geography major and I was fine).
The workload is definitely manageable (a weekly 30 min-1 hour assignment) and the midterm/final were very straightforward as long as you watch the lectures. Definitely take this class if you can!
This class is very straightforward. The professor's lecture was helpful and he had clear powerpoint slides. He highlighted the important terms in red and possible exam questions in blue. Multiple choice questions for midterm and final. Just rewatch recorded lectures, focus on the highlighted points on the slides and it is an easy A. Textbook is not useful tho.
