Prof. Greene is absolutely amazing! I took her class during my first quarter here at UCLA. She's absolutely kind, very helpful, funny, and kind of adorable in a grandma kind of way. The concepts in this class were not hard at all. They were a review of PreCalculus from High School but she thought it in a quicker pace. I highly recommend Yacoub as a TA. You don't really need to attend lecture if you feel like you know the concept well enough. But, you do need to personally turn in homework during lecture usually due on Fridays and you need to attend discussion for attendance credit.
Grade Calculation:
Midterm 1 - 20%
Midterm 2 - 20%
Final Exam - 35%
Written Homework - 10%
Online quizzes - 10%
Attendance - 5%
The tests were fair and relatively easy. They are similar to the problems from the textbook and she would often release previous practice exams. As far as I can recall, around 50% of the students received an A on the first Midterm, 33% received an A on the second midterm, but the final was somewhat harder with most receiving a B.
The homework took some time to do but it was very doable. The online quizzes were super easy. There were instructional videos for almost all problems and you are basically given unlimited tries and you can get a full 100% on the whole thing if you tried.
In the end, I felt like Prof. Greene was kind enough to give a curve and thus, boosting the grades of students because Math 1 is not offered during Winter or Spring quarter and thus, if you failed this class, you can not advance on to the next class until next year as this class is a Prerequisite.
Mrs. Greene is easily the best math teacher I have had in my 4 math classes at UCLA. She's helpful, clear, and direct to the point in all of her teachings. I passed with an easy A after getting a 50% on her 2nd midterm due to personal issues. She's super kind and understanding to everyone. Take advantage of having her as a teacher because odds are you will get less and less clear teachers as you move up in math.
I retook math 3B and compared to the one of the math prof for 3b in winter quarter she is literally the best. She explains the material in detail and is very approachable. She has tons of office hours and the TAs for the class are also really helpful too, so don't feel nervous or discouraged after a test to go and ask for help. The TAs hosted a couple of review sessions that were a little harder than what was on the actual exam but it'll make you know the material for sure. And she will always have extra practice problems or practice exams that are similar to the actual exam. She has two different grading schemes that will give you the higher grade and she curves pretty generously too. Overall, take Greene!!
I took 3A with Greene and I did so much better, but not for 3B. The tests became much harder, the lectures became more confusing, and I did much worse in the class. Still very nice and funny! Hoping 3C goes better for me!
Professor Greene is so passionate about teaching and it really shows in her lectures. She is such a quirky, fun person who really cares about her students. Her lectures are well paced and really help ingrain mathematical concepts. Not to mention, she is extremely generous with the grading scheme of both 3A and 3B. If you tank one of the midterms but do well on the final, she'll drop that midterm and just give the final more weight. The weight of the class is also evenly distributed with homework, Wiley Plus, and attendance in discussion. She will also drop your two lowest homeworks. Greene is not about tricking students either; what you see in class is what will be tested on. She even gives practice tests that are practically identical to the exams. Even with all of these resources, you can go to office hours and she will be more than happy to directly address any concerns or questions you may have. The TA's Jeremy, Sudesh, and Yacoub are all great! Just don't get Khang. But if you do get Khang and discussion is optional, don't go because it'll do more harm than you not being there LOL.

It has been overall a great experience taking Calculus with Greene. This is the first quarter they changed the curriculum so the material was actually not as "easy" as others said it would be. However, it was a lot easier than 3B maybe it's just me.
Anyways, her lectures are nicely structured but she uses examples from the textbook that aren't all that relevant. The main thing to study when studying for her exams is the homework problems (make sure you know how to DO your homework problems with correct answers because many of her test questions are structured very similar to homework) and her study guides. I think I only attended half the lectures and discussion sections but when exam time came around I studied hard on the homework problems and study guides and got A's on all the midterms and the final.
This quarter she didn't curve as much as the previous quarter probably because many people did well. Usually a 90 would be an A but this quarter a 93 was an A so don't ever assume her curves will always be the same each quarter and always strive for perfection. On the final, she gave us a little cheat sheet but it was irrelevant for the test in my opinion because I didn't use it once for any of the problems (not because I knew how to do it without the cheat sheet but because I didn't encounter a problem that needed it...or maybe I did need to use it and I got that question wrong).
All in all, take Greene for Calculus, she's not the easiest professor and she gives quite a few homework problems but she's a kind caring professor and even drops two low homework assignments to boost your grade.
