This class was very informative and covers a lot of history. The teacher was very passionate which made the class more interesting and engaging. This history is important, especially now while the jewish people are so misunderstood in media. It really sheds light on the reality of history.

I really enjoyed Professor Pirnazar's class. Pretty straightforward and a lot of interesting information; it's a broad topic to cover, but she is very knowledgable about the history of Iranian Jews. She cares a lot about the material she teaches, and her exams are pretty fair. I would take future classes with her.

This class taught me a lot. Professor is very knowledgeable about the subject, but sometimes takes for granted that students might not follow as easily. However, she is nice and will always explain again of you ask her to. Make sure to take notes during class, many topics cannot be found online, only through the teacher and some course materials

She is terrible. Stay away from her classes at all costs. She is somewhat of a nice lady and tries hard, but she is just not cut out for teaching. Her class isn't too hard but I dreaded seeing her. I don't think I can put into words how much me and my fellow classmates despised her. Whenever we would set up any study sessions, we would have to spend a good hour complaining about how bad of a teacher she was and how much we dreaded going to class. I got an A in the end but would have preferred a C on my transcript if I didn't have to put up with her horrendous attitude. I promise you you will regret taking any class with her.

I took 111C, which I'm pretty sure is the same as 201.If you pay attention and take good notes it's an easy class. I think if you have some Persian background it makes it a lot easier though. I got an A but I went to class and took good notes. Her study guide is long but a lot of the words are intertwined so not that bad. Overall a good class and I'd recommend it.

Professor Pirnazar is an excellent instructor who is passionate about the course material. She truly cars for her students' understanding and is very helpful if you have any questions. Be sure to attend every lecture, complete the assigned readings, and take good notes. Lastly, this is a must for students interested in exploring a largely unknown aspect of Persian Jews.

I just had to write a review for this class and professor. Stay away if you came to UCLA to get quality education and value your GPA for the long run. Professor Pirnazar is very disorganized and forgetful. We had to wait 10 minutes for her to set up class and remember key announcements regarding assignments and grades. My grade literally suffered because she forgot what she told me about an assignment in private and then swore that we never had that conversation. She also expresses a lot of her own personal views throughout lecture which, at times, exposes her extreme bias approach to Iranian history. Her published works are also of low quality ... I was left unconvinced of many key arguments regarding Iranian Jewish history. I pretty much memorized through the exam material. I would have received an A if it was not for her forgetfulness. I saw a rather positive review for this professor and course ... I think it was left by somebody who felt bad for her and want to keep the interesting course topic alive. Everyday lecture consisted of students talking about their frustrations regarding her grading clarity and disorganization.

I took Professor Pirnazar's class this past Winter 2020. This was one of my favorite classes I have ever taken at UCLA. Professor Pirnazar goes through the history of the Iranian Jews with clarity and patience. She always takes time to answer questions and is always diligent while teaching her content. She uses Powerpoint slides to present her lectures and they are super clear and easy to follow. If you are ever confused about something she is super sweet about answering questions during the lecture.

The class consists of an in class written midterm, final, weekly homework assignments which are just a brief summary of the weekly readings and participation points. You can find the textbooks on reserve at Powell.

Overall I highly recommend this class! I would 100% take it again if I could!

I took her for History 111C. She is completely disorganized. No one pays attention in class and those who bother to pay attention and ask questions she yells at. Her study guides are long and impossible to do. I would not recommend this classs AT ALL. I took it because it fit perfectly in my schd and I totally regretted taking it. the midterm is 45% attendance is 5 % in addition to weekly outlines you have to do and the final is 55%. Even though I did the outline + terms there is SO much information to memorize that it's really an unrealistic expectation she has to make us memorize those MILLIONS of terms and essay questions and only put a few on the final. don't take her. you'll dread every moment in her class. she jst has no spunk to her.. she needs to spice up the class! this course was an interesting subject but as I looked around the class theyre were people fast asleep! oh and if it's any consolation i'm not bitter I have a 3.8.

HISTORY 111C

Here's the deal: If you aren't Persian, you might have a hard time understanding her accent. But you get used to it by the 3rd lecture. This class, however, is super simply. As long as you take notes and fill out the study guide, you're set for an A. She gives you all the possible questions for the midterm and final. She also gives you the terms to look for in each week's readings. Overall, easy A.

If anyone is looking to buy the Habib Levy book that is required for this course, I am selling it for $60. I bought it for $110. Text me at ********** :)
