Professor Tingley's course, Bayesian Modeling for Ecology, was by far the most useful class I have ever taken. He is an incredibly engaging lecturer, and every lecture was exciting and I looked forward to it. This course was manageable yet demanding for all levels of statistics knowledge. The midterm was very fair, and he offered the opportunity to fix mistakes made on the exam. The final project was a very fun opportunity to apply cutting-edge statistical methods to your own research (regardless of whether or not your research was in the field of ecology), though he offered to give you data to analyze if you do not have data of your own. The problem sets were the only part of the class that was difficult. Though difficult, they were very manageable if you give yourself ample time, attend office hours, and ask questions. The labs were very fun, and necessary if you want to do well on the problem sets. The grading was very fair. I have never had more fun with a course before, and this has by far been the most useful class I have ever taken. If you do research in the life sciences, it is imperative that you take this course with Professor Tingley.
