Prof. Smith was very kind and passionate about this topic. Though there wasn't a discussion section, she drew on student contributions and experiences in her lectures. She went over Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam in specific urban contexts supplemented by weekly readings. The entire class grade was based on short weekly papers and one final paper. Definitely do all the readings if you want to do well on the essays!

I took this class during quarantine so it was much different than the previous reviews about her and her class. The class was based on weekly readings and weekly responses. Every week, you have to write 500 word review on 2 articles that are somewhat related, which was difficult. On top of that, she graded out of 3, so whenever I had a mistake, she would take off a point so I would end up with a 66% for that week. I finished the class with a B-, but decided to make it pass/ no pass to not hurt my major GPA. The lectures are useless and you can do everything by readings. The lectures do not go over the readings nor help with the final.
She is very nice but her grading scale is horrible.
