should be an easy A, I was just being a bad student at the time (freshman fall quarter lol). just get a good idea of the readings, pay attention in lecture (hard cuz she is very un-engaging -- many people fall asleep in this class), and spend just a couple nights on the papers. simple, basic material, but take this with a better lecturer!

Don't take this class. period. Molly has very boring lectures and I don't know if it was just my TA but she graded unnecessarily hard even though I studied so much.

This is a good class to take, its just that I didn't put enough effort into the essays and studying. The lectures are often interesting and the content is pretty straightforward. I got a B+ because I always did the essays last minute and did not properly study for the tests.

Bruh this class is not hard at all. There's a paper that isn't even that bad and the midterm and final are as straightforward as they can come. She gives you all of the questions that she could possibly ask, word for word, so all you need to do is use flashcards to memorize the answers to them and you'll ace them all. Lectures aren't amazingly interesting bc the material is so broad, but there aren't any necessarily difficult concepts. As for the readings, some are long but she usually goes over them in class and the clicker questions are practically common sense. Only reason I got a B+ is bc I didn't spend 10 more minutes memorizing information for the final (the test is that simple)...

This class is overall really simple and straightforward. The material is interesting and the assignments aren't too tough (although there are many of them). Studying for the exams is a bit tedious, but she at least provides study guides which is better than what you'll get in some other GE courses. The reading is RIDICULOUS, and is my only problem with this course. Whether it's justified or not, I did not feel like doing such a large amount of reading before every single lecture. What's worse is that it is required to purchase an iClicker for this course in order to be quizzed on the readings (to see if you read them or not). Luckily, I was able to get away with skimming or straight up skipping some of the readings and still answering the questions correctly. If you HATE reading as much as I do, this probably isn't the class for you. That being said, I managed to get an A- without putting much effort at all.

Prof. Jacobs is great. The class required iClickers because random quizzes were given during lectures so do the readings or having good guessing skills. Her lectures has slides. The slides are basic, to the point, and include pictures. She uploads them the day before class so one can copy or print them and review them so they can focus on her lecturing during the lecture. There are homework assignments that are due during your dis. section but they are not meant to be hard. There is a midterm and final exam. They consist of multiple choice and short answer questions. She provides a study guide so the exam gets easier. The course readings are online and from a course reader. The reader is on reserve so the textbook is not technically required. Jacobs is super formal, good lecturer, cracks some quirky jokes from time to time, and is easy to approach. Definitely recommend taking a class with her.

This class was kind of a joke. As a GE, this class was just pure memorization--if you reread her slides a few times before the midterm/final and answered/memorized your answer to the questions she gave out, you'd do extremely well on the exams. There was one short paper which was also extremely easy, and getting participation points in discussion was just a matter of showing up and actually talking to your group. The study guides she gave out for her exams were the actual questions she used for the free response on the exams--as long as you memorized your answers (30-40 questions), you were golden. If you didn't have time to do that, you could still do okay, but I'd recommend studying at least a full day or two for the final for sure (and of course, some for the midterm, too). Otherwise, this class was super easy--she even debated curving the midterm because so many people had done badly on it despite the fact she literally gave us the questions weeks in advance. Would recommend taking as an easy GE that just takes up a bit of time. Also would recommend at least skimming the readings, since they come up sometimes on the exams.

Professor Jacobs was wonderful. Her lectures were very engaging and organized. I really don't understand why other students who have rated her here had a problem with her. She is incredibly sweet and makes sure everything is clear. The short paper was not difficult, and neither were the short homework assignments we had to do throughout the quarter. The midterm and final were both very fair and easy. She gives you a study guide with 30 or so short-answer and long-answer questions alongside terms you need to know the definitions for. All the multiple choice questions that appear on the test are related to the questions and terms on the study guide, and the sort and long answer questions are directly pulled out of it. A big portion of your grade is reliant on your TA. I had a wonderful TA so I didn't really have to worry about that too much. Overall, Professor Jacobs is incredible and you should take a class with her!

I regret taking her class as my GE requirement. Her lecture are hard to understand. She assigned a lot of reading each week for discussion and there were one 3-4 page essay assignment and several short responses throughout the quarter. She would give you study guide for midterms and finals. But finding the answers was very time-consuming and nearly impossible for students who didnt do the reading assignments. Meanwhile, I had to memorize the answers of each questions in the study guide sentence by sentence( for the final study guide, I spent a huge amount of time memorizing 2000 words answers). Luckily, I received help from my classmates for study guide, otherwise I would not pass this class.
