Excellent professor! She is a very engaging lecturer and made the subject interesting for me to learn about. It was easy to follow along during lecture since she connected everything to a broader theme. It is important that you talk with your TA about expectations for the essay's since each one wants something a little different. Overall, I would recommend this class if you like French history.

This class was amazing! I felt professor nassali was such an interesting lecturer and I walked out of class feeling like I had learned so much everytime. Class was really based in on a midterm essay and a final essay where you are analyzing primary sources. There’s also a final project which can be a podcast or blogpost on a contemporary issue you’re passionate about. Then participation grade. I loved this class so much and definitely suggest it!

I'm not the biggest fan of history, and I had a really bad enrollment time so I was mad that this was one of the last options available to take for a GE. However, this class didn't turn out to be that bad. The professor was really kind and her lectures were interesting, but I do admit that sometimes I was too tired to pay attention (that was on me though). There weren't any tests for the course which was great, the midterm and final were essays (I do not recommend procrastinating on these). I think mainly the grading comes down to your TAs. Overall, I didn't mind the class; it wasn't the easiest but it wasn't difficult either, it's manageable if you're not overloading yourself with extremely hard classes.

Hands down, one of the best professors at UCLA.

Professor Nasiali is one of the best lecturers here. Take a course with her and you will genuinely develop an interest in history. Her slides were always well prepared. She promotes class discussions even in lectures as big as 200 people, and often takes a keen interest in her students, by making the effort to remember their names. She is also very receptive to creativity and conflicting opinions, and never imposes that her way is the only way. I would highly highly recommend this professor, even if you hate history (like me :P).

Professor Nasiali is knowledgeable, engaging, responsive, and friendly. Her lectures were all so well organized (each week was themed around a different object). This class was a super fresh and interesting perspective on European history, which I didn’t know existed (I have taken so many Euro courses that I didn't think I could possibly ever find it interesting). I was prepared to be bored by endless droning about the French Revolution but instead the Prof explained relevant themes that connected Europe with the rest of the world, and the past with the present. The first hand sources were well chosen and even the textbook felt relevant. I took this class as an easy GE (I'm a senior who has finished both of my majors) but I actually really enjoyed it and would rank this class in my top ten UCLA classes ever taken. Can't recommend this prof enough, definitely worth my time.
