Professor Sproul is one of a kind. Yes he has a very monotone voice, but it's actually pretty funny to listen to him and his conservative theories. His class is composed of 3 quizzes, worth 55% total, that consist of 15 multiple choice and 1 short answer. The final is worth 43% and is 40 multiple choice questions with 2 short answer, focusing mostly on the material after the 3rd quiz. The last 2% is simply from turning in notes. He bases the quizzes and final on his notes, so there really isn't much need to read the book, but it doesn't hurt because he does include some conceptual questions. If you study for each quiz you'll be fine in the class. I've heard that I was lucky to have him for Econ 1, rather than the other Econ 1 teachers like Bresnock.

Sproul is very good for Econ 1. Do not buy the book. just go to lecture. He posts lecture notes from a previous year that are almost the same as what he goes over in class. He is very helpful and nice. He always returned my emails and even gives out his cell # to his students. I called him twice! With minimal effort... I mean MINIMAL you can get an A. Just do well on his quizzes and forget the online text project. takes way too much time for 4 points.

This professor is the best!.. His summer course for econ1 is cake.. do not buy the book! His tests are purely from his notes. I studied an hour before each quiz.. and couple hours for the final and got an A+. He is very nice.. very good lecturer and is the best teacher for econ 1. Take him in the summer!!

Prof. Sproul is a good educator. He explains all of his examples thourghly, uses different examples then the book so you can have a variety of scenarios. On downside (and a big one) is that he assigns projects and homework that is worth like 3 points, yet it takes more than an hour or so to do. its like, you can forget about the homework and extra credit, ace the test (especially cuz they are all based on the notes exactly) and you will ace the class. He doesn't look at any improvement you may have made over the course. Prof. Sproul syas that if you email him or call him he will get back to you in a short time, but that's wrong. He doesn't get back to you until like 10 mins before class starts, too late to check your mail and get to class on time. Come to class everyday and take extra careful notes. that's the only way to pass this class. Don't bother buying the expensive book. its not worth it.
