**Review for JAPAN 50 w/ Ishida since it's not listed**

The class was generally pretty interesting. I know pretty much nothing about Japanese Civilization so it was cool to learn so much about it.

You pretty much have to go to lecture since the slides aren't posted anywhere and it's not Bruincasted. She goes super fast so either bring a laptop or take pictures of the slides. However, around exam season when we were reviewing lecture slides, sometimes she let us go to her office after class to go over slides we didn't get to review.

There was weekly homework assignments where you picked a question you had to answer, which was manageable. Discussion was pretty pointless and the TA wasn't helpful; I just went for the attendance points.

Exams were kind of tough since she doesn't really give you review material, not that I remember. I used my friend's study guide from the class with another professor and built off that. I never read the textbook but managed to still get all the information from lecture notes. There is A LOT of information though, so you have to be able to keep track of all of it.

She gave us an extra credit opportunity, and we saw a show in Little Tokyo. It was actually really fun! Transportation was provided. You just had to write a small report on it.

I pulled an A, but not without a lot of work. There is a lot of material and essentially just a lot of memorization. The information is straightforward, but it wasn't the easiest GE based on how much studying I had to do. However, the class was interesting and Prof. Ishida is really sweet.
