Professor Ding uses his own notes to teach the class. However, he is constantly updating them himself and the notes have lots of odd errors. For example, the notes have two separate, completely discrete pieces of code pasted together without any visual separation.
His exams expect students to regurgitate specific and lengthy snippets of code from memory, which is not an appropriate way to teach programming at all. As someone who struggles with rote memorization on account of a disability (ADHD-C), I did exceptionally well in the midterm, which required no code regurgitation, but got a D in the final.
To succeed in the class, do the homework and practice exams. He uses the same questions in his exams, but re-ordered. It's an easy A if you can memorize well.
