Professor Mattenson genuinely cares about each student and will make you feel so supported in anything you pursue. This course was by far the most useful course I've taken in my undergraduate career and I wish every UCLA student could take HC 50. The community she was able to cultivate was unlike any other class. Keep in mind she is a really picky grader. Her expectations for the written assignments are a little unclear. Make sure you go to her office hours regularly because she will give you a lot of great feedback. The workload for her class is also larger than other professors who teach this course but the assignments helped me in learning more about myself and future careers.
