This class was not *that* bad despite the last review. I believe that taking an econ class as a pub aff major will probably be tough no matter the professor, and Professor Mynhier really did give students opportunities to keep our grades up. The content was tricky for me because math is not my specialty and this was my first ever econ class, but the math isn't too hard (its all just basic algebra) the hard part is graphs and memorization of many concepts. There were a lot of opportunities to raise your grade-- problem sets, weekly "quizzes" (bottom 2 grades are dropped) and she offered a few extra credit opportunities in class and on the first midterm. The final was a bit tricky but nothing crazy. If you need to take this class you will be fine if you pay attention and keep up with it. I didn't feel like she expected anything unreasonable of us. I didn't really even know what was going on before the midterm and I ended up getting 100% after studying.

This class was hard even as an online summer course, there is a ton of content. Although Prof Mynhier cares about her students and wants us to succeed, her lectures were often confusing and boring even when the content is interesting. Some concepts were already covered in other pubaff pre-major courses, but if I hadn't already learned them I would've been really lost. She put us in breakout rooms to discuss problems every class which didn't work well. The tests were difficult but fair and the final average was about an 81. Overall I didn't love this class but it's not horrible- take it with a different prof if possible

The class content itself was not the issue in this class. Professor Mynhier was really the biggest hinderance to my final grade. Throughout lecture, she often gets sidetracked and her points are very unclear. She throws out a ton of information, and expects her students to pick up very quickly. She often gets confused what she is even talking about, and there have been many instances where students have pointed out her own mistakes in lecture. It is common to hear things like "you won't be tested on this" or "this won't happen in the real world", which makes the content you need to know unclear. She is also a very unorganized professor. The biggest example of this occurred on the day of our midterm exam, when she didn't print the tests until 20 minutes before, and ended up being 15 minutes late to our test, rushing to hand everything out. On top of that, the length of the test was completely unreasonable for the limited amount of time given. Luckily, the midterm is only worth 20%, final is worth 30%, problem sets are 10% each (30% total), and participation and weekly quizzes are each 10%. Overall, while the class content is not easy, I definitely think the root of the issue was the professor.
