Really funny and engaging lecturer. The readings were super interesting as-well. Definitely don't be late-he will make fun of you. 30% of the grade was discussion based/based on a few short assignments that were just graded for completion. People complaining about difficulty most likely skipped a majority of classes as pretty much everything on the tests where covered in class and during discussion. Really appreciated his nuanced approach to the subject matter. 10/10 would

avoid this teacher at all costs. Clearly does not care about students' mental health. Significantly harder than other IDS teachers. Is not helpful when you ask questions, makes you feel stupid. Harsh grader and 10x more work and assignments than other teachers assign.

Worst IDS Prof I've ever had, take a different class for the core requirements. Now called "Theories & History of Intl Dev" this class is clearly a reused "economies of developing countries" structure and would NOT recommend. Professor is not engaging at all, lectures seemed scattered at times and Harris does not let you use technology within the class (even for notes).
Although Harris clearly has a great understanding of the course content, he does not provide background or an easy explanation of his content. Average for the midterm was a 76% and final avg was a 61% which he slapped a HUGE curve on to make sure most students got within the A range. This clearly shows that the students did not understand the course content, and many were afraid of failing.
