This class was supposed to be fun, but it was nightmare from the jump. Boring lectures. TA was miserable, graded the midterm harsh, and the professor was even worse for the final, I felt her feedback was condescending rather than helpful. I went to office hours a lot which helped me do well overall, but I wouldn't recommend anyone take this class with her. Not like she's teaching anymore since she's retiring. But that's my take on the course. I got an A.

I would not recommend this class. I went in to it thinking it would be impossible to make a class about prostitution boring, but somehow she does and I left the class with more knowledge, but an even greater dislike of the UCLA history department. On the final, either her or her TA graded tough for no real reason. Normally, it’s good if a professor grades tough because it teaches area of improvement, but for their grading it was taking points off for no real reason and claiming information was made up when it was literally taken straight from her lecture material. I would not recommend this class at all unless you want to be bored in a class about what should be an incredibly interesting topic.

Probably one of the best classes I have taken. Especially with COVID, she was great! It is two hours of lecture per week, quizzes, and then a midterm and final paper. She gives you the prompt of the papers before and then you have like 2 days to complete the final. The lectures are fast paced and have a lot of information, but you must watch them to do well. She also gives extra credit. Overall would recommend this class! She is so nice and accommodating. Nothing bad I can say.

Really interesting class and pretty easy exams. Dr. Norberg fostered a very pleasant and collaborative working environment. She was lenient and flexible, even giving people extensions on the final exam if they had multiple finals coming up and were stressed. I definitely recommend taking this class!

If you’re looking for an easy history course, this is the one. The class is made up of 7 quizzes , a final and midterm, and one extra credit opportunity worth up to 5% of your grade. I recommend doing the extra credit even if you feel like you’re doing well in the class. The professor asked you to write a minimum of X amount of words on the essay but don’t expect to actually write that much she wants much more than that in actuality and will take off points if you fail to mention every source that was gone over in class. Take advantage of office hours to organize your thoughts for the exams. The lectures were interesting and there are weekly quizzes based upon them but they are easy since you just have to remember the terms in red from the slides.
