This was the very first class I took at UCLA and I did not find it difficult at all. The material is relatively easy to grasp, but I would highly recommend forming a study group for the midterm and final to get through it all. The lectures can be boring sometimes, but the information is worth staying awake for. This class helps you understand culture in American society and offers a teleological perspective of European philosophy. I had the most amazing TA (Fernanda) who was incredibly helpful and caring. I only did 2 of the readings the entire quarter and was able to get a 98% on the final. The readings are crucial for the class, but will come up on the exams so I recommend at least skimming them. I formed a study group for this class and each person was in charge of doing certain readings and making summaries of them so everyone could get the main points without doing all the work. The best way to succeed in this class is to work smarter, not harder.

He isn't very organized with his lectures and tends to go on tangents about specific topics. It was pretty boring, it's not like the class was hard, just kind of boring. I was excited going into it and left disappointed.

I did, however, have a fantastic TA. Even though my TA graded kind of hard (because he knew everything) he really helped us understand the main points of the readings. I didn't really do any of them so this was very helpful.

I got an A in the class so even though my mind sometimes wandered in the class, everything turned out all right. Also he's a really nice guy, so that helps too.
