Homework assignments were absolutely unhelpful; only 1/5 of them were even remotely relevant to the content of the class; in addition, the homework was graded harshly and it is hard to get all of the points, so either put in a lot of work or accept that you may have to make up for your homework grades with tests. Gardner is a decent lecturer and it is possible to learn a lot from her, but you need to do homework problems and go through the course reader to do well. I did horribly on the first midterm because I made the mistake of lazily studying, but pulled out a high-ish grade on the final through 3 days of grueling studying. Exams are EXTREMELY time pressured; if you don't know immediately how to solve each question, you will very likely run out of time before you finish the exam. Gardner is a good professor, but her class is very hard. Finally, the course reader was overpriced in the extreme, which is annoying since you must buy it (it contains all of the class notes and materials for homework) and you cannot share with friends.
SELLING NEW MGMT TEXTBOOK:
You will need this for both MGMT 1A & 1B. It's Wiley Financial & Managerial Accounting 2nd Edition.
It's a relatively new book so there aren't many used out there. Buying a new looseleaf will start around $180.
Selling Price: $100
Contact: *************
In addition to having to buy a 100 dollar textbook, we had to buy another 100 dollars worth of course reader material, all of which could have easily been posted online (a third of it was an answer manual). She is always late to lecture and was late to her own office hours, at which she was not that helpful. She is unresponsive to e-mail. Two of the discussions were a waste of time because the first time, the TA didn't show up, and the second time, there was a room change and no one really informed the class. I wish I took Litt instead.
She kept me awake during her two hour lectures, that's rather rare for me. She is an awesome lecturer. She's rather weird outside of class but that's fine. Her exams are SUPER LONG and you can barely finish them! Overall, I learned a lot from her lectures. Great professor.
