Definitely take Physci 5! Esdin is a great professor and if I could, I would take all of the classes he teaches (already took LS2 with him). He really cares about his students and is really engaging. The material for this class was ridiculously overpriced (100+ dollars!) but unfortunately very necessary. His exam and quiz questions come directly from the course reader so even if you go to lecture, he could include things he didn't go over as long as they're in the course reader. The workbook that comes with the textbook is worth 100 points and the iProfile access code you buy is necessary for you to make the project (another 100 points). Overall there's: participation, quizzes, the project, the workbook, 1 midterm, and 1 final. Overall a very interesting and useful class.
PS for those who want my old iProfile access code, workbook, and course reader, text me at **********. I have the material from Winter 2016 but am selling it now (2016-2017 school year)
Edsin is such a sweet man but he was not very engaging and expected a lot from students. The class is easy until the midterm/project/final destroy you. Actually, the project is quite easy and it, along with the workbook, are major grade boosters. But memorizing all the material was near impossible for me.
Great GE, even for international students. I walked away with some real useful knowledge.
Prof. Esdin makes the class accessible and easy to understand; the TA, Asif, is also awesome when it comes to test prep. Definitely attend ALL review sessions if you want good grades with shorter review time.
Also selling:
the NEWEST edition (2015 Fall) of coursereader- great condition with no marks on it
iprofile account (which expires on September 2016 so you can resell it after you finish the class)

TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH/WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE IMPLICATIONS OF YOUR LIFESTYLE. Dr. Esdin does a great job trying to make the material as interesting as possible- lectures are fun, (and also attendance monitored so make sure to go)!
This class is definitely doable, but you do need to keep up with readings in the course reader, which is about 20 pages a week. If you put in the work, it's an easy A. He wants his students to do well! The class ends up being curved at the B+/C- mark. I would definitely recommend this class to those who want a fun, interesting, and relevant GE!

Winter '15 Course Reader - Esdin
It's in superb condition, just took some (really good) notes in like 2 chapters. I will also throw in ALL class lecture notes, workbook, and iProfile for reference. In addition, you can have the study guide I made for my final, it's perfff. :)

Professor Esdin was a pleasure in class, and you really learn valuable life information. The class isn't too hard as long as you keep up with the work and study for the tests. I managed to get a good grade, and I even procrastinated until the last week to do my big project.
I'm selling the coursereader and the iprofile account for $40, if anyone is interested.

Interesting lectures, points for attendance (even in discussion). Read the course reader according to schedule and work on the workbook related to the chapter, don't fuck up like I did. Not reading the course reader thoroughly messed up my exam scores. And an iProfile project- easy- just time consuming, DON'T put it off to the last minute. TA does a fantastic job on explaining the project, with lots of guides. Lastly, a few easy peasy quizzes.
Overall: loved it, love Esdin, wish I approached this class with the above advice.
