if you're taking pic 10a, take it with her. practice exams follow the real exams and she is genuinely the kindest professor ive had all of ucla. her office hours are so helpful and she breaks down the content. attendance optional and i never went and same thing for discussions. the exams happen during lecture though so be careful about that. i really do not like coding/cs in general but this class was great.
The teacher is extremely sweet and kind! She always tries to answer the questions to the best of her ability. Her exams follow the practice exams to the T, so make sure to study them and learn how each question works and what to do! I think she even lets us use cheat sheets.
I remember this is the first coding class I've ever taken, so I was extremely lost, and I absolutely bombed the first midterm (I got an F). However, I was able to raise my final grade to an A, as her extra credit was worth a lot and I think she curves the grade to make your grade as best as possible..? I haven't met anyone who has gotten lower than a A- unless they absolutely did not try at all.
However, the workload was kinda heavy, but I do think it was definitely manageable... I wasn't struggling or anything!
I loved this class, and genuinely she is the best teacher I've ever had. I even took her the next quarter bc I loved her so much :)
This class was fairly easy. I found the lectures to be boring, but definitely explained the material. The homework was fairly challenging, but there was not too much of it. The midterms and finals were very easy, and there was a lot of extra credit on them. I received 100 or above on each of them. We were also allowed a typed or handwritten cheat sheet. It was a good class, and Lu was a good professor.
