Ugh what a boring class. As someone who went to lecture every day it's just not really worth your time. Woody goes on lots of pointless tangents and loves to brag about his achievements. He is a nice guy though. He doesn't do notes during class, he just puts up slides and talks about them, so you'll probably get more about going through the examples on your own than having him talk about them. HW is mostly straight from the textbook, and tests are very straightforward, you're not really gonna get anything crazy on them. We got 24 hours for the tests so they ended up being extremely low stress and manageable. About half the content you already learned in 108 or Statics, the rest is mostly just applications of that material, so it's not a difficult class. Just do the HW and a few example problems and you'll be fine, just don't expect to really learn anything from the professor.

Professor Woody said he has never failed a student in this course and TAs were very supportive of students. Extremely low stress and manageable class.

This class was surreal. You sit down and one moment Woody (the professor's nickname) is talking about moment diagrams, then in the next he's talking about the FE exam. You look down at your phone wondering at what point he began to get sidetracked and you realize that 30 minutes have passed. I swear room 5249 is another dimension man.

Anyway, this class is pretty easy. You'll be reviewing stuff you probably learned in 101 and 108 for about the first 4 weeks, and then you start to learn specific methods to solve for deflection and curvature and whatnot. Woody is super enthusiastic but in a sort of sporadic way where it's easy to get lost in what he's talking about. Bring homework or a crossword puzzle or something to class and take it out when he starts going on one of his tangents. He honestly talks about some pretty important concepts in this class but it's very easy to get lost. The textbook and lectures sometimes had differing information, so it's best to attend lecture and take good notes of how to solve problems. Conceptual knowledge won't really be tested. Exams were pretty fair. Definitely sit next to a friend or run a tally of every time he talks about the FE exam if you want the class to be a little more fun.

Super amazing professor. The only issue is he goes off topic a lot!but overall he explains every detail and makes sure that you understood the concepts.
