I feel like I learned a lot of useful lab techniques in this class, particularly those related to gene cloning, bacteria culturing, chromatography, gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, and protein assays. Lab sessions were usually long (4 hours twice a week with some of the cloning modules going over time), but outside of that, there were only one-page prelabs due before most labs and 6 module reports due throughout the quarter. Thankfully, this class DOES NOT have all the rigorous data analysis, formattinThere is also a final exam with written, hands-on, and oral parts and a final presentation which you complete with your lab group. Chen was very sweet and helpful throughout the quarter. Her lectures were primariyl only in the first half of the quarter and she went over important theory that helped in understanding the labs. Shoutout to Shelby and Rouxian for being such amazing TAs! Overall, really enjoyed the class (despite having to get up at 8 AM twice a week).
