I really don't know how to describe this amazing professor. In my opinion professor Darabi has one the best lectures in ECE department. He explains everything from baby steps and he's so caring about the students. He never let a question unanswered and except his normal office hours, he always made an extra one for student who need helps. This class has 4 hw sets with 12 question each, where usually 5 of those are extra credits, if you start early you can finish them way before the deadline, but my quarter everyone got lazy and complained about the workload so he gave us and extra 25% bonus on each hw. His midterm and final are fair but not easy, but again he's so caring that he offered to reduce the midterm weight if we preform better on final.

Darabi was a good lecturer. The homework is tough, but the TAs help the students through it in discussion. The tests were very difficult and graded harshly. You are not allowed to use a calculator but will still be expected to do some annoying algebra. This is not an easy course, but for EE, you have to take it. The class won't be a terrible experience, but the tests will be.

The lab is a terrible experience with terrible TAs and stressful demos. I got an A in the lab, but I'm left with a bitter taste over how poorly managed it was. They had given us incomplete lab kits at first. When asked how they want something in the report, they will give you a ridiculous answer that asks way too much. In the end, every student did it differently and it didn't really matter. My advice for the lab is to complete it before the demo and to not waste your time organizing the report really carefully. If you touch on everything they want in the discussion questions, that is the most important part.

I do recommend taking this course with this professor. It could have been a lot worse. With required and core EE courses, you kind of just have to bite the bullet because many of them suck. The ones I liked were 131A with Dolecek, 102 with Kao, 141 with Gharesifard, and 121B with Emaminejad. The worst was 2 with Sokolich (bad lecturer), 3 with Briggs (very mean), 101A with Candler (bad lecturer), and M16 with Mani (bad lecturer and very mean).

This class was great. Professor Darabi gave clear-cut instructions and the TA's were extremely helpful - one of the TA's even answered students' questions on Discord. The grading was generous, lectures were well-paced, and this class overall was extremely well structured. Assignments are due every two weeks so the workload wasn't bad either. I would highly recommend taking this class with him!

Professor Darabi is truly the best. If you have an opportunity to take this class with him, do it. He's clear in his lectures, and his homeworks and exams are reasonable. He's funny and sometimes makes jokes in class, and he is very good at explaining all of the concepts and making sure that he does plenty of examples. Best EE professor.

Excellent class, excellent professor. There were a couple of rough spots in the beginning of the quarter (covid quarter! yay!) but Darabi solicited feedback and then addressed it. His lectures are slow but clear, and he is helpful during office hours.
Homework is very long, and can be challenging, but is very relevant to class material, and is manageable if you work with others and go to OH/discussion when you need.
I've heard many a story about circuits professors, so the quality of this class came as a pleasant surprise. A kind and understandable professor who I would highly recommend!

Professor Darabi is without a doubt one of the best professors I've had so far. Given the whole situation with Covid and online classes, he went out of his way to accommodate us and be fair in grading. For instance, after the class complained about the difficulty of the first homework (there are 4 total), Darabi gave the entire class 5% extra credit in the homework category. Likewise, both the midterm and final were very fair, and he offered to put more weight in the final grading scheme toward whichever one of those exams individuals students did better on.
On top of all that, Darabi gives very clear and engaging lectures, and he posts his neatly-written notes on CCLE afterwards. I highly recommend him for 110; he is probably the best professor you can get for the class.

By far one of the clearest EE professors. I'm sure you guys have probably heard of the horror stories of 110 with Moloudi; Darabi's tests are quite fair and straightforward. As long as you do and understand the homework and keep up with lectures, you'll be in good shape. Screwed up on midterm pretty badly but also made a huge comeback on the final. I was legitimately scared of failing the class after realizing how far below the median I did on the midterm, but picked up the slack and worked my ass off to make sure I did significantly better on the final. He really appreciates improvement; keep your head up and just follow along. Material isn't as bad as some people make it out to be; IMO working in Laplace domain is much easier than working in time domain as in ECE 10. Definitely take Darabi if you can for this class!

Professor Darabi is a very clear and organized lecturer. I fell behind with the lectures, but his notes and recorded lectures were easy enough to follow. His homeworks were of average difficulty, but the questions were closely correlated with the lecture material, so definitely pay attention to the lectures. His midterm and final were both doable and easily manageable within the time limit, as long as you understood material to a decent level. He is also a pretty chill and understanding professor, so I definitely recommend taking his classes.
