I took this class for fun, I'm more interested in novels than screenwriting. A lot of the lessons in the class I had already learned from my own research on creative writing (avoiding doing the actual work of writing, you know how it be). However, Hasmik gives very clear and helpful lectures which helped me focus on what was important when I was writing my draft. She also had us write a whole outline for the screenplay first, which was super helpful and I now know I need to adopt that practice for my future work. It made the actual drafting process so much smoother and just fun. My favorite thing about the class was how Hasmik paired movie clips with each lesson she was doing. Sparked my interested in the movies and gave an entertaining example of each technique. She also answers any questions you have about the industry. You can tell she works very hard at what she does and she gives very focused feedback.
