I personally liked him a lot for 6A. His lectures were clear and always funny. I didn't think anything too unexpected was on the tests. They were a time crunch, but sometimes he even reused questions we saw before. I'm taking him again for 6C for sure

Great lecturer. Explains topics in details and answers any question you have to the best of his ability. This was my first physics class ever and it wasn't that bad thanks to him. Midterms are only 50 minutes so time is an issue on those but there's plenty of time to complete the final.

Stay away from this class if you are hoping for A in physics 6A. His first midterm and final were ridiculously hard and long, compared to 50 mins allowed, no matter how hard you study for it. Second midterm was ok! I spent all my time studying for his class and doing all the homework and ended up with B. He will tell you the exams are like his slides and the homework assigned, and yeah the multiple choice questions focuses on his quiz questions in the slides but good luck with the rest of the big problems! Hated all the physics because of this guy!

My favorite professor from any pre-requisite for a life science major. Looking to crash his 6C class. Wasn't able to go to his office hours, but he was able to get every single topic across to a person who had a shitty physics experience in HS. People who say his accent is hard to understand are just bitter lol it is NOTICEABLE that he is not from here, but it has NEVER resulted in me, at least, trying to decipher wtf he was trying to say. I read the book a lot and took it with an easier schedule though, so I lucked out. His homework was due on Friday nights so SET A REMINDER FOR THAT. 6A, by virtue of being the first university physics class, is challenging, so you will probably have to study 2 hours per week. Go to his physics discussions (which aren't mandatory) if you have a question. Cannot stress enough; don't be afraid to take him!!!!

Professor Koutroulakis has quite a heavy accent. It's very hard to keep up and understand his lectures. I actually self studied for this class because I thought he wasn't very helpful as a lecturer. He is very funny though.

Koutroulakis is HAWT.
That being said, he's also a pretty good lecturer. He's young (like early 30s I'd guess) so he's still really passionate and engaging when he lectures and talks about physics. He really wants the class to participate and encourages it. He remembers students names who go to office hours and routinely will acknowledge them during lecture, which is nice. He has a Greek accent but it's easy to understand (makes him hotter anyway).
6C is usually considered the easiest of the 6 series, and I'd have to agree with that, but this class is still challenging. BEWARE, because he WILL ask questions on the midterm over a topic that he literally JUST lectured over 1 or 2 lectures before the test!!!! He did that for our second midterm and I was not prepared for a full question to be over such a recent topic! I heard another girl say that he did the exact same thing in her 6A class, so just beware!
The format of his midterms are 5 multiple choice questions and ~3 free response questions (with multiple parts, a, b, c, etc.). The final is about twice as long as the midterm.

I got low Cs/D+ on both midterms so I was freaking out, but I pulled it together and did well on the final and got a B+ in the class. The labs/homework/clicker grades help, and I personally think that he made the final more manageable. But I also studied a ton.

Overall I would suggest taking him, he's passionate about physics, engaging, and he doesn't stutter/stumble over his words, say "uh" a lot, etc. Plus remember he is hot.

I hate physics in general but Koutroulakis made it less painful by explaining things in a way that made sense. He was funny too and would do experiments in class to keep us engaged. Discussion isn't mandatory and lectures aren't podcasted. His tests are fair and usually combine conceptual multiple choice problems and then a few regular problems. I would take the whole 6 series with him if I could!

Koutroulakis was an engaging lecturer and pretty funny. He explained Physics well and I would definitely take him again. I don't like physics and didn't have a strong background going in, so this class wasn't my favorite, but he made it more bearable. Also, even though I didn't particularly like the material, his demonstrations made the class entertaining. The first midterm wasn't bad, if you studied and understood the concepts it was doable. The second midterm, in my opinion, wasn't much harder, but a lot of other people thought it was more challenging. The final was pretty hard. He said it would cover all material equally, but it focused a lot more on the end concepts, in my opinion. His curve is good though and it's not based on the average, it's predetermined and pretty generous. Also if you do the pre/post tests you get 0.5% extra credit. You can get another 0.5% extra credit if you use a clicker during lecture. Overall I recommend him.

This was George's first quarter teaching Physics 1C, and I think he did a pretty good job. He gives engaging powerpoint lectures with clicker questions and demonstrations, and the slides are posted online. Attending class is a must as he only solves and explains problems in lecture. Discussions are really optional, but I recommend doing the posted worksheets.

The grading scale is such that a 87.5 is an A, a 72.5 is a B, and a 52.5 is a C.

The first midterm was a nightmare, with average was in the 40's. Then the second midterm was easy, with the average in the 80's. Then the final was really hard again.

Problems from the textbook homework and the discussion worksheets appear on the midterms.

Homework is masteringphysics and some textbook problems. You get full credit for the textbook problems just for submitting something. Not too bad.

Clicker participation gives 1% extra credit.
