Dr. Grose is a gem and I never would have guessed that I would have taken away as much as I did from his class. I would recommend it to anyone, no matter what your religion. He is understanding, caring, and it is by far the most thought-provoking class I've taken at UCLA.

Mr. Grose definitely knows his stuff. The dialogue lecture is probably the highlight of the class. There's only one assignment (... i think. maybe 2) and it's a paper. He has office hours and is very helpful in coming up with paper topics. but.. it's kinda hard to pay attention in class because he speaks rather softly and sometimes goes off topic, but don't worry the course reader covers everything. he also brings in several guest speakers and they've all been very good.

Truly a privilege for UCLA to have such an awesome professor in one the most important subjects of humanity. Take his class if you are intersted in religion, people, and the future of the world.
Anyone who has taken his class knows it's all about Abraham!

Professor Grose is an outstanding professor. I loved this class and I loved him as a a teacher. He really cares about what students think (he constantly urges people to talk). Also, he brings in fascinating lecturers that really make you think about contemporary and historical issues concerning Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.

Some ppl say that he is an easy teacher. I would agree based on the letter grade that you'll get. I wouldn't agree because what he asks you to do (think critically rather than just spouting out facts) is challenging.

I would take this course and have Prof. Grose as a teacher again in a heartbeat.

If it were up to me, everyone would be required to take this class. This is one of those once in a lifetime, will change how you look at the world kind of classes, and I hope everyone takes advantage of this oppurtunity. Dr. Grose is a kind, wonderful man who cares very very deeply about his subject. He believes very strongly in the work that he is doing, and his enthusiasm and drive are completely infectious. Most classes I walked away thinking "This is why I'm at UCLA." Seriously.

Don't let his age fool you, either. Dr. Grose is a opiniatated and active liberal (don't be scared off if you're a conservative. He's liberal in all the right ways). Since he's a Presbyterian minister, he understands Christianity to the point where he knows hypocrisy when he sees it. Take this class. _Please_ take this class. It is so worth every moment.

Dr. Grose was a wonderful professor. He wasn't out to get his students with hard tests or difficult grading. He showed a genuine concern for student learning and always encouraged comments, questions, even disagreements. More importantly, he had a real passion for the subject.

There were moments when he would go off on tangents, but still they were interesting tangents. His grading is more than fair. I highly recommend taking his 120 class.

Prof. Grose made my fall 2003 quarter very enlightening. Yes, it's true the lectures are long, but they are very insightful. The exams are all take home and you get to put your own spin on the topics. His grading is fair and he really cares about your learning.

Dr. Grose is knowledgeable about what he teaches. Even though his class is 3 hours long, his lectures are great. He is understanding, and overall great. I recommend this course to people who love to learn about religious conflicts, one gets a great deal of knowlegde from Grose.

Awesome teacher, very caring, and passonate about his class. I recomend it for everyone!
