All the of the professors for this class were great lecturers and are very knowledgeable about the respective subjects that they focused on for the class, but in my opinion Robinson was the best lecturer for this class. I enjoyed his style of lecture more which consisted of a powerpoint with mostly pictures, so you are just focused on paying attention to and writing down what he says rather than trying to frantically copy the slides. This does mean you should attend his lectures, but the reading he assigns essentially give all the information he lectures on. But you should attend lecture because his lectures were incredibly moving, all the lectures have been interesting and worthwhile but his have stood out for me. It's a very fascinating class and it was not very difficult. I didn't keep up with all the readings but I still did well on the final.
Also try to get Steve Cucharo as your TA. So far he's the best TA I've ever had and I think he might be the best TA I ever will have. He's very knowledgeable and helpful and you can tell he cares and really wants everyone to succeed.

If you're thinking of taking a cluster, take this one. Super easy. I stopped going to lectures after week 2, and got an A both fall and winter quarters. All you need to do is do at least a couple readings so you have an idea of what you'll write for the paper, but that's it.

GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!! Professor Robinson is generally a very cool and funny professor and you do not need to go to his office hours to understand lecture because he's so clear and precise but he's just a really interesting guy to talk to and definitely one of the best parts of the last two quarters. He's an amazing person and I really really want to take one of his upper divs. He has so much knowledge about his work and used to work for the UN in Indonesia so he's seen some of the stuff he teaches about first hand!! Absolutely love him, would 100% recommend someone to take his classes.

Geoff is a truly great lecturer and every single person was interested in his case study. He was almost like a super-star because he knows so much about the Indonesian Genocide and Indonesia in general. He offered some really unique and interesting perspectives on the conflict and historical analysis of the evidence. This is a scholar who went to the archives and looked at documents one by one and is doing the amazing work of piecing together this story. His book is called, "The Killing Season", and it's super easy to read and is very engrossing. We had to do a paper on US involvement and the sources he provided were utterly fantastic. I want to take his upper div class with him if he teaches it again because learning about this history was something very special.
