The Professor is nice and his lectures are usually pretty good. He tends to read off the slides a lot. The workload isn't bad at all because the readings are more recommended than required. The tests weren't too difficult either, especially since he made the final a take-home test. As long as you keep up with the material and study before the midterm and final, you should be fine. There are also group quizzes, so it would be helpful to form a group to do the quizzes with early on.

Class was pretty fun and informative! Was not as difficult as it seemed as the idea was very intimidating.

I felt like I learned a good amount of Cognitive Psychology in this class and as felt like this was a good introductory class for my major. I already have taken a good amount of cog sci electives (like linguistics, psychology, computing, and philosophy), so if you go into it with some background knowledge, you'll be fine! There are readings in this class but I never really read them and have gotten A's on our group quizzes and midterms, so they're not tested on too much. Overall, I'd recommend this class for people interested in Cog Sci.

I took Professor Mettler Fall 2022 and at first I was very scared to take this class (because apparently this was one of the most difficult psych classes) but he made it so much fun. Although he uses big fancy words when he goes over the lectures (so dorky its cute), he was always willing to reiterate in a different way so that you understand -- his patience was great. He gave us study guides for the midterm and final (some questions were repeated from the study guides on the exam). Even though we had to do the readings weekly, he honestly gave up on us around week 4 because we all stopped doing the readings (also they were unnecessary for the exams). I think as a class we stressed him out so much over the final he ended up making it online (since there was the TA strike). During the last week of class he bought us all pizza and we listened to Megan Thee Stallion. I would take him again.

Dr. Mettler was pretty understanding that the material could be dense and emphasized that if you put in any semblance of effort you'd get an A. He was right. He wasn't really the best at explaining some concepts and at times he wasn't clear but the group quizzes were similar to the midterm. Overall he was okay but was very generous in his grading in my opinion. I didn't take notes because he went fast but he recorded audio lectures and it was helpful.

This class content wasn't too hard, but Professor Mettler was a bit all over the place. He wasn't very good at explaining concepts when students didn't understand, but he tried his best. He is kind and has a good attitude, but things got confusing in lecture. The class grades consists of two group quizzes that are take home, the midterm, and the final. It was all manageable if you are okay at teaching yourself things from the slides. Getting an A is doable but time consuming for studying.
