The content of this class is interesting but the slides were confusing and lecture didn't always connect to the readings. Participation and going to lecture is a big part of your grade. The professor often went on tangents and had obvious opinions on certain topics. She also misgendered one of her former TAs and guest lecturer (I don't recommend this class if you're trans/nb/genderqueer).
Dr Momeni clearly knows her subject very well and is incredibly passionate about what she teaches, which makes her a delightful professor. Her ability to integrate course material into absolutely any tangent that we go off with as a class is fascinating. My only qualms with Dr Momeni was that grading took forever. We went the whole quarter not knowing what grade we had in the class and by the time we had to write our final papers, worth 30% of the grade, we didn't know what we were going in with. Overall, though, it was an easy class and she seems to be a wonderful person so I would take her again.
I loved this class! Professor Momeni is super funny and her lectures were surprisingly interesting. This class has little to no assignments, and the final paper was really fun to write because I got to choose the music video I wrote about and analyzed. My TA was AMAZING- shout out Da In Choi. She was so sweet and genuinely cared about everyone in her discussion and graded super fairly. Any time someone told her an idea for a project she'd be so supportive and facilitated really engaging discussions. As someone who struggles to participate due to social anxiety, Da In made the environment so welcoming and I found myself looking forward to the discussion section because the topics covered were so interesting. Overall 10/10, I would 100% take this again
This is a relatively easy GE! Workload is more than manageable and Professor Momeni knows what she is talking about. She makes the lectures interesting. My TA (Rosie) was also very helpful and made the sections pretty fun! The readings are manageable and not boring and you only have one essay to write. There's also a social media project that you have a lot of flexibility with.
So this class is really easy. However the teacher just went on so many tangents. She was passionate but it didn't always feel very academically backed. I spaced out for most of the lectures. I loved the readings, I felt that those were very interesting and informative I just did not enjoy her lectures at all. I am a feminist and it even felt a bit dramatic and SJW for me but idk some people vibe with that. I have friends that loved Professor Moment she just wasn't my personal cup of tea. Still, not a bad class, very very easy (final paper was literally just an analysis of gender in a music video, I did Montero) and hey you'll definitely learn something about the oppression women face. Also interesting comparisons between the Middle East and America as she is Iranian.
This class was super low effort and actually interesting. My final paper was on Lil Nas X’s Montero, which was super fun to dig into anyways. Easy GE!
class was broken down to weekly papers that only were 250-500 words. she allowed us to rewrite the papers that we received bad grades on. She was so kind and really engaging throughout the quarter. she always answered the emails very fast. she was a bit confusing at times but she's an easy grader and is always willing to help.
The class consisted of a social media project, a final paper, and participation/attendance. The final paper was graded leniently. There was an extra credit opportunity which was basically a journal about how exposed you are to gender related topics in everyday life. The discussion sections were interesting because the readings were interesting and that was all we discussed about.
