I was very interested in psych...before I took this class. It was not that hard, but the lectures were boring and the reading was fair but time consuming. It was one of those classes where I gave it my all but ended up one point short of the grade i wanted! only take this class if you have a really high interest and are a pro at overcoming long lectures.

Professor Holman knows his information well and gives excellent notes. He is a little difficult for an introductory course, but overall his understanding and sense of humor make the class enjoyable.

DO NOT TAKE PSYCH 10 WITH THIS PROFESSOR. He made the material SO boring, when it had potential to be really interesting. I have (or HAD) a genuine interest in psychology and Holman killed it. I studied a lot for all his tests, and managed to get a B, but i worked way too hard for that B. He writes all the notes on a chalkboard, and barely expands on anything. I hated going to class every time. I either wanted to leave or fall asleep. The only good thing about this class is that i don't have to take it again. I am making this as scathing as possible, because i truly think Holman is a terrible professor.

I went to all of his lectures and the TA's reviews, and did all of the reading. His tests weren't as bad as people claim. If you follow the study guide and his lecture notes you should be in good shape. However I heard the other psych 10 teachers were much easier, so if you have the option of taking someone else do that.

makes interesting concepts & material boring...just a warning: if you find yourself in a predicament, don't go to him expecting sympathy and understanding

His system of writing notes on the board is very helpful. He is a pretty good lecturer and has a dorky sense of humor which is pretty amusing, plus he brings in cool gadgets. The tests can be kind of tricky however....if you go to lecture, read whatever he didn't talk about, and review old tests you should get a good grade.

Prof. Holman is a really good professor. The class isn't all that hard. If you go to class and follow the study sheets, you have a good chance of getting a good grade. Although some of his lectures were boring and hard to sit through, some of them were really interesting. He uses demos and videos so you can apply what he's teaching. The lecture notes were helpful just in case you happen to choose to not attend a few lectures such as i did =)

I thought this class was going to be an introductory class. I was definately wrong. I felt like this class was extremely hard for being an intro class. Prof Holman does hav is funny points, but is so boreing and hard to listen to. You have to go to lectures in this class because there will be at least 5-10 questions on his test that are the examples he used in class....they are not in lecture notes or in the book!!!!! His class is also hard because he grades on a bell curve. If you take Holman, make sure to read read read in advance and go to lecture. Also, treat his study sheets like gold. It is what is going to be on the test!!!!

For such a large class with such a wide range of material, i thought that holman did a great job. Sure, the questions are a bit random, but there is so much to go over, it would be hard for the tests not to be a bit broad. Also, the way the exams are set up is awesome...if you like multiple choice. Three equal multiple choice tests for which he has at least 5 old test examples for makes this class easier than others. Take holman if you can.
