This class has a reputation for being an easier management class... but if you want to enjoy your classes and/or have a Professor who cares about their students, do not take this class! It is a 100-point class with 3 midterms worth 25 points and one project worth 25.

The lectures are genuinely fill-in-the-blank and do not teach you at all. If accounting is up your alley, then you will be totally fine. However, for people who are trying it out, they only minimally help you understand the material. There also are often mathematical mistakes in the notes, so be careful. Professor Woo also talks to her students like they are babies, so lectures can be quite annoying.

The tests are around 25 questions and generally reflect textbook questions. However, the first Midterm is multiple-choice, but the second and third are open-ended, and you do not get credit for work. The average on Midterm 2 was 72%, and she only curved up by one point to 76%.

As for Professor Woo, she does not care about her students. She does not give extensions or extra credit - even if it is for an incredibly valid reason. The TAs are incredibly helpful and show more support than her. I heard multiple instances where TAs sympathized with students and tried to help but then had to go back on their word because Professor Woo did not care.

This contents of this class are very simple and Woo does a good job of clearly and thoroughly explaining them. The exams are also structured to be non-cumulative, so you only need to focus on a small portion of the class for each exam. Thus, getting an A is extremely easy and straightforward. Having taken Gardner for 1A, I can say that Woo is miles easier, however, it is important to note that if you plan on taking 120A and onwards, Woo doesn't really prepare you too well. I suspect she skips over a lot of the content expected to be covered in 1B in order to give students an easier time, which can be for better or for worse depending on how you look at it. Overall though, I would recommend taking Woo for 1B, as all one cares about is GPA, and you will easily get an A with her.

Classes with Woo are the best. Tests were in person/closed note (45 mins) but as long as you study you'll be good. This class was just like 1A so if you did good in that you'll do good in 1B.

I've taken both 1A/1B with Woo and I can say, by far, she is the best professor to take these 2 classes with. Everything is asynchronous and you can work on the fill-in guides.

Her weekly quizzes may be a time crunch for some people but as long as you know the basic concepts you should be able to apply them.

I definitely recommend taking Woo over any other professor for this class if you want an easy A (or A-, idk)

I adore Prof. Woo. I have told everyone I know that needs to take this course to wait to take it with Woo because she makes learning about accounting so fun somehow. She is super clear and concise and truly cares about what she's teaching. Cannot wait to take another course with her in the future

This class was super clear and straightforward, all the lectures were recorded online and starting week 5 we went back in person but you still had the option to stay online. Professor Woo is super nice and chill. Your entire grade is 3 quizzes and 1 assignment and it was super manageable.

Professor Woo is great! The class consists of three quizzes and one project, each worth 25% of your grade. This sounds tough, but everything is manageable if you listen to her videos and understand the example problems. Professor Woo is an extremely clear and helpful professor. She also has some great insight on getting started with a career and life after classes.

I'm not sure how easy this class would be in person, but online it was almost a joke. There was never a need to remember or memorize things and it bites you in the ass when you have to use all of these topics in later management courses. If you're gonna take her, don't slack off like that

Professor Woo is amazing. She is clear, concise, and builds upon what we learn in 1A, tying everything in very well. The quizzes are a fair assessment and the project is clear and fair. The entire grading is based off of the project and 3 quizzes and there is no midterm or final. Highly recommend!

I love that she uploaded all of the class material at the very beginning so you could work at your own pace. The quizzes didn't leave you much time to check work, but there was enough time to finish if you worked quickly and were aware of your time. The major assignment was shorter than the one in 1A which was nice.
